A New Step in Education – Health Education in Polish Schools Starting September 1, 2025!

Polish schools are set to undergo a major change in their curriculum—a new subject called Health Education will be introduced. This is not only another step in the development of the education system, but above all, an investment in the future of our society.

  • What is Health Education?

Health Education is a subject designed to provide students with the basic information and skills necessary to take care of their own health. It will cover topics such as a healthy diet, physical activity, hygiene, coping with stress, disease prevention, as well as issues related to mental and emotional health. The goal is to educate a generation of informed, responsible individuals who will be able to make informed choices for their own good and that of others.

  • Who introduced this new subject?

The Ministry of Education and Science initiated the introduction of Health Education, having recognized the growing challenges associated with the deteriorating health of the younger generation. In collaboration with experts in the fields of medicine, psychology, and education, a curriculum was developed that aims not only to impart knowledge but also to foster healthy habits and attitudes.

  • Why is health awareness so important among the public?

Given the rising number of lifestyle-related diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease, health education is becoming an indispensable part of the school curriculum. This helps young people understand how their daily choices affect the length and quality of their lives. Furthermore, this program will also promote mental health by teaching students how to cope with stress, peer pressure, and emotions.

The introduction of health education brings tangible benefits—not only for individuals but also for society as a whole. Healthy habits developed during adolescence translate into a reduced burden on the healthcare system in the future, as well as more informed and responsible citizens.

The OliEdu Civic Education Foundation proudly supports these changes, believing that this is a step toward a healthier, more informed community.

The future begins today, and education is the tool that allows us to shape generations ready to face the challenges of the 21st century. As we can see, the introduction of the Health Education course is an investment in the health and well-being of us all!
