How can your facility join the #fioletowelove health and education campaign?

Step 1 – Sign up and prepare your own initiative

Facilities sign up to participate in the #fioletowelove via the registration form.

In November, children and students create purple hearts using any technique—a symbol of support for premature babies. Projects can be prepared both individually and in groups. Older students can, for example, prepare a presentation, record videos, organize a dance marathon, or hold a sports competition. Schools can also take part in the challenge to create the largest purple heart! In the attachment, you’ll find worksheets that we recommend using to plan engaging lessons. The worksheets include additional inspiration and materials for activities related to the color purple—which symbolizes the delicacy and uniqueness of premature babies—as well as the symbols of World Prematurity Day, established in 2011 by the World Health Organization (WHO), including:

• an activity featuring 10 socks, one of which is smaller than the rest, symbolizing the fact that 1 in 10 children worldwide is born prematurely;
• a heart, symbolizing the #fioletowelove campaign, to be created using any art technique in purple;
• the poem “Oli the Kangaroo” and the story about the birth of a premature baby, “Oli the Kangaroo,” to be used to generally introduce and discuss the topic of prematurity with children, a condition that affects many of their peers;

The worksheets were prepared by Ewa Daros, President of the OliEdu Foundation, who earned a degree in early elementary and preschool education as a scholarship recipient from the Ministry of National Education for outstanding academic and social achievements, and a degree in social and welfare pedagogy from Jagiellonian University. The author has international experience as an educator and holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), which authorizes her to teach in the United Kingdom; she has also been recognized for best practices in educational institution management by Investors in People (an accreditation awarded to organizations in the United Kingdom for management standards).

These materials have received a positive evaluation from an experienced child psychologist — Justyna Bryndza— who holds degrees in Applied Psychology and Pedagogy from Jagiellonian University and is a highly regarded practitioner supporting children at the Child Psychologist’s Office.

Step 2 – Posting content on the facility’s social media accounts

Facilities post photos or videos of the artwork they’ve created on social media and on their website, along with a description of the #fioletowelove2026 campaign, #fioletowelovedlawcześniaków, #fundacjaOliEdu. Please nominate other institutions (preferably 3) to participate in these joint activities to demonstrate the power of working together!

Be sure to follow the OliEdu Foundation’s social media profile, where updates on the campaign’s progress will be posted regularly.

Step 3 – “Purple Day”

November 17 is World Prematurity Day. To mark the occasion, the facility organizes “Purple Day for Premature Babies”—children come dressed in purple, and the facility can be decorated with purple accents, balloons, and artwork created in advance—and organize their own initiatives, such as a bake sale or a Zumba marathon combined with a fundraiser to purchase medical equipment and cover the ongoing needs of premature babies in hospitals throughout Poland.

Step 4 – Support the Fundraiser

The facility organizes the fundraiser, and the proceeds are used to purchase medical equipment and cover the ongoing needs of premature babies in hospitals across Poland. Thanks to you, we can ensure that premature babies get a better start in life, and the fundraiser can be combined with other events; it must be completed by the end of December. For example, you can organize an event called: “Purple Angels – December Help for Premature Babies” and combine making purple angels using any technique with a fundraiser for premature babies.

We are very pleased that so many entities have gotten involved in the #fioletowelove campaign for premature babies: daycare centers, preschools, elementary schools, high schools, community centers, other cultural and educational institutions, companies, and private individuals. The first #fioletowelove campaign enabled the purchase of pulse oximeters and stethoscopes for infants, and the second edition allows us to support hospitals in Poland in meeting their current needs for infants, including, among other things: kangaroo care chairs, a refrigerator for infant formula, mattresses, pillows, and a bilirubin meter (jaundice monitor).

The campaign is based on the need to promote empathy, social support, and to spread knowledge and awareness about premature babies through educational initiatives and fundraising for hospitals, which requires a tremendous amount of volunteer work, so we’d love for you to join us and become a #fioletowelove volunteer! The specific goals of the #fioletowelove educational and health campaign offer many benefits, including, among others:

• raising awareness that 1 in 10 children is born prematurely and needs greater and more comprehensive support,
• increasing knowledge about the problems and challenges associated with prematurity and the illnesses that can affect infants and their families,
• health prevention as well as social and welfare support for the families of prematurely born children,
• fostering empathy, responsibility, and a spirit of volunteerism among children and students through participation in a charity campaign,
• building solidarity with others, as well as openness and respect, through educational activities,
• raising funds to purchase specialized equipment in the fight to protect the health and lives of premature babies, as well as to cover the ongoing needs of organizations supporting premature babies and their families!

The #fioletowelove campaign has attracted media attention from the very beginning. Many doctors, journalists, athletes, actors, and politicians have spoken out in support of premature babies and the initiative’s mission, encouraging others to join the campaign on social media.
