The Health of Young Adults in the Spotlight!
For the seventeenth time, Kraków has become the venue for an important discussion on health—this time focused on one of the most challenging and often underestimated groups: young adults. During the “Practitioners for Practitioners” medical conference, experts from various specialties will address health issues that are increasingly common in schools and educational institutions.
This event was exceptional not only because of its significance but also because it brought together people who have a direct impact on the health and well-being of young people on a daily basis: school principals, teachers, educators, psychologists, and school nurses. The presence of such a broad group of representatives from the educational and medical communities underscored just how crucial cooperation between these two fields is.
Health Education—The Foundation of Prevention
The conference demonstrated one thing: supporting the health of young people begins with education. Today, schools are increasingly becoming places where health problems—both physical and mental—are diagnosed. For this reason, it is essential that those working with young people be well-prepared, have up-to-date knowledge, and be able to count on the support of the medical community.
Health education is not an extra but a necessity. It is what enables young adults to better understand their needs, respond to warning signs, and consciously take care of their physical and mental well-being. Well-educated youth mean a healthier society in the future—and that is precisely what this year’s conference highlighted.
A Message from the OliEdu Foundation and the Importance of Collaboration
Ewa Daros, President of the OliEdu Foundation, also took part in the event and was asked to speak at the conference’s opening. This is a symbolic and important moment—it was for the benefit of the Stefan Żeromski Specialist Hospital that the first #fioletowelove campaign was organized, supporting premature babies and raising awareness about their needs.
The presence of Foundation representatives among practitioners and educators once again demonstrated the great importance of combining social, medical, and educational efforts. Only in this way can we effectively build a culture of health and sensitivity to the needs of young patients.
The conference’s goal: shared responsibility for the health of young people
One of the main objectives of the meeting was to expand knowledge about the health challenges young adults face, which schools are encountering with increasing frequency: mental health issues, eating disorders, chronic diseases, and difficulties resulting from social pressure and the fast pace of life.
The conference also aimed to strengthen cooperation between the educational and medical communities. It is precisely this cooperation that is key to early intervention, effective prevention, and the creation of a safe and supportive environment for young people.
Organizers with a mission
The event was superbly organized by the Stefan Żeromski Specialist Hospital and the Friends of the Żeromski Hospital Association — institutions that have been working for years to promote the health of the residents of Kraków and the region. Thanks to their commitment, the conference became a venue for a constructive exchange of experiences and inspiration for further action.
