Why is physical activity important for students?
Physical activity is one of the key elements of a healthy lifestyle for children and adolescents. Since its inception, the OliEdu Foundation has supported initiatives that combine a focus on students’ physical and mental health with their social development. One such activity was a free billiards outing organized at Forum Fun & Food, which demonstrated that sports have many facets—not just the most obvious one.
Pool—More Than Just a Game
Although pool is often associated with entertainment, it is in fact a sport that requires concentration, precision, and motor coordination. Regular play engages muscles, improves posture, and develops reflexes as well as planning and logical thinking skills. For students, it’s an excellent form of physical activity, especially for those who don’t always feel at home in traditional team sports.
Billiards teaches patience, emotional control, and responsibility for one’s own decisions. Every move matters—just as it does in everyday life...
Mental and Emotional Health
Physical activity, even in a more relaxed form, has a huge impact on young people’s mental well-being. Getting out of the school environment, experiencing a change of scenery, and having fun together help reduce stress, improve mood, and boost self-esteem. Students can take a break from screens, schoolwork, and their daily routine.
Such initiatives also foster the development of healthy relationships—both among students and between students and teachers.
Social Values—Together Is Better
Group outings, such as the one organized by the Oliedu Foundation, have tremendous social value. Pool fosters cooperation, conversation, and mutual support. Students learn:
- the principles of fair play,
- respect for others,
- and how to handle both victory and defeat.
For teachers, this is an opportunity to get to know their students from a different perspective—in a less formal, friendly environment. Building these kinds of relationships later translates into a better classroom atmosphere and greater engagement in the educational process.
Investing in the Future
The Oliedu Foundation’s activities show that caring for young people’s health doesn’t have to be limited to the gym or physical education classes. The variety of activities gives every student a chance to find something they enjoy.
A free trip to play pool at Forum Fun & Food is an example of an initiative that combines physical activity, fun, education, and social integration. This is an investment not only in physical health but also in emotional and social skills—and these are just as important in adult life.
The Oliedu Foundation believes that such activities genuinely change students’ everyday lives for the better. And that’s exactly the point. 💙
We’d like to thank Forum Fun & Food for the photos and for helping organize the entire initiative.
