#fioletowelove for premature babies

We’ve launched the #fioletowelove social and health campaign for premature babies!
The campaign’s goals are:
- to raise awareness that 1 in 10 children is born prematurely and needs greater and more comprehensive support,
- to increase awareness of the problems and challenges associated with prematurityand the illnesses that can affect infants and their families,
- raising funds to purchase specialized equipment and medical devices that help premature babies in their fight for health and life,
- preventive healthcare to support infants, their parents, and caregivers.
The latest fundraiser organized to mark World Prematurity Day was a huge success—even greater than we expected! We managed to raise funds for both a stationary pulse oximeter and, additionally, a portable pulse oximeter and stethoscopes for examining infants!

We are very pleased that so many kindergartens, elementary schools, high schools, community centers, other cultural and educational institutions, companies, and individuals have gotten involved in the #fioletowelove campaign for premature babies.
This year’s campaign will be even bigger, and purple hearts will flood all of Poland! We have received honorary patronage from 14 mayors and 5 superintendents of education, which further underscores the significance and importance of our efforts. How can preschools and schools (grades 0–III) participate in the #fioletowelove2024 campaign?
Step 1 – Art Projects
Starting in early November, children create purple hearts using any technique they choose—a symbol of support for premature babies. Children can create them individually or in groups. In the attachment, you will find worksheets that you can use. The worksheets also include additional inspiration and materials for activities related to the campaign:
- an activity featuring 10 socks, one of which is smaller than the rest, symbolizing the fact that 1 in 10 children is born prematurely;
- a heart, which is the symbol of the campaign, to be created using any art technique in purple;
- the poem “Oli the Kangaroo” and the story about the birth of a preterm baby, “Oli the Kangaroo,” to be used to generally introduce and discuss the topic of preterm birth with children, a condition that affects many of their peers.
The worksheets were prepared by the President of our foundation, Ewa Daros, who is an experienced early elementary and preschool educator and holds a degree in social and care, and is personally the mother of a premature baby. These materials have also received a positive review from a child psychologist. More information can be found on the last page of the worksheets.

Step 2 – Posting
We encourage institutions to post photos or videos of their creations on social media and on their websites, along with a description of the #fioletowelove2024 campaign, throughout November. Please nominate other institutions to participate in these joint activities! Be sure to follow the OliEdu Foundation on social media, where quizzes about prematurity and infants will be posted regularly throughout November. It’s a great idea to engage children and students in collaborative learning through play and by answering the published questions.
Step 3 – “Purple Day”
The institution organizes a “Purple Day for Premature Babies” — On November 17, children come dressed in purple, and the preschool or school can be decorated with purple accents, balloons, and other art projects created in advance.
Step 4 – Support the Fundraiser
We also suggest organizing a fundraiser to purchase medical equipment, which will be donated to hospitals with neonatal units that care for infants.
How can grades 4–8 and high schools participate in the #fioletowelove2024 campaign?
Step 1 – Art or graphic design projects
Students create artwork depicting purple hearts or socks—symbolizing support for premature babies. Projects can be done individually or in groups.
Step 2 – Posting
Please post photos or videos of the artwork on your school’s social media accounts and website, including the hashtag #fioletowelove2024, and tag and engage other schools in the process. We also encourage you to follow the OliEdu Foundation’s social media accounts, where quizzes about prematurity and infants will be posted regularly in November. It’s a great idea to involve children and students in collaborative learning through play and by answering the published questions.
Step 3 – “Purple Day”
We encourage you to organize a “Purple Day,” during which students will come dressed in purple on November 17, and the school will be decorated in that color. We also welcome the organization of additional initiatives, such as a group Zumba session, a marathon, a bake sale, or sports competitions, during which you can hold a fundraiser for premature babies.
Step 4 – Support the Fundraiser
We also suggest organizing a fundraiser to purchase medical equipment, which will be donated to hospitals with neonatal units that care for infants.
How can companies join the #fioletowelove2024 campaign?
Step 1 – Post a message
In November, the company posts on its social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) in which:
- it announces its support for the campaign;
- it shares a photo or short video, e.g., of employees dressed in purple, with a purple ribbon, the company’s logo in purple, or another creative way of expressing solidarity with premature babies (we suggest a purple heart);
- nominates at least 3 other companies or individuals to take on the challenge.
How to write a post?
For inspiration, here’s an example post:
“We’re proud to take part in the #Fioletowelove2024 campaign supporting premature babies and their families! Together with the OliEdu Foundation, we want to spread knowledge and awareness about the health of the youngest children. We nominate [Company A], [Company B], and [Company C] to take on this challenge.
What to do:
- Donate an amount of your choice to purchase medical equipment that will be delivered to hospitals with neonatal units that care for infants.
- Announce your participation in the campaign on your social media. Post a photo or short video, e.g., of employees dressed in purple, with a purple ribbon, a heart, wearing purple socks, featuring the company logo in purple, or any other creative way to express solidarity with premature babies!

Step 2 – Response from the nominated companies
The nominated companies have 48 hours to take on the challenge! During this time, they donate the selected amount, publish a post, and nominate other companies so that your goodwill can reach an ever-wider audience.
Step 3 – “Purple Day”
We encourage you to organize a “Purple Day” at your workplace, during which employees will come dressed in purple on November 17, and the office can be decorated in this color. We also welcome additional initiatives, such as bringing items for an auction or swap—for example, books, clothing, baked goods, etc.— group Zumba sessions, a marathon, a bazaar, or sports competitions, or taking on a shared challenge—such as commuting to work by bike—to promote a health initiative during which you can raise funds for premature babies.
If feasible for a given company, it could also provide employees with the opportunity to dedicate one day or a few hours to volunteering, during which they can assist at facilities that support premature babies and infants. The OliEdu Foundation would help organize visits to children’s hospitals or other foundations working on behalf of infants.
Step 4 – Donate the selected amount
A company that takes on the challenge donates the selected amount to the #fioletowelove2024 campaign run by the OliEdu Foundation (we are parents of premature babies, which is why we work together and offer support). The donation is tax-deductible!
